About-Us: Our farms & Blends

El Capiro

Location: Palestina, Caldas

Size: 100 hectares

Altitude:

Varieties: Colombia, Caturra

History:

The farm where it all began, where my father and his siblings were born. It began as a small portion of what it is today. My grandpa expanded little by little until he reached the size the farm has today. This farm is located in the most traditional area of the colombian coffee area. The farm has been producing coffe for over 80 years under my grandpa but the lands have been coffee lands for much longer than that.

Today, due to global warming, Capiro is no longer as optimal as it once was for the best coffee in the world. Nowadays, younger farms producing specialty coffee are located much higher in order to scape the hot temperatures. The coffee at Capiro is traditional and delicious. It is a great place to start your coffee journey without committing to specialty coffee prices.

Andaluz

Location: Genova, Quindío

Size: 33 Hectares

Altitude: 1550-1950 Meters above the sea level

Varieties: Castillo, Mokka, Geisha, Java, Wush Wush, Bourbon

Notes: Micro-lots, shadow growing

History:

It is a very small farm very high in the Colombian mountains. The farm belongs to Manfred, an agricultor who once was my dad's boss and became a friend. My father and Manfred stayed in touch due to a common passion: producing the best coffee in the world, and now we work together to make this dream come true. Fun fact, Manfred's grandfather came to Colombia from Germany after the first world war escaping a recession as he had heard there were many jobs in South America. Manfred's daughter now works and lives in Düsseldorf as well and enjoys hosting coffee tasting ceremonies at home.

Our Blends

Even though we truly believe in bringing you the very best cup we possibly can and we are proud of our varieties, blend also have a place at the table. Most coffee roasters use blends to stretch flavour and reduce their costs. Most blends in the market are a blend of Arabica and Robusta, due to the nice flavour or Arabica and the low costs of Robusta.

However, when blends are done with flavour and quality in mind and not price, they become a beautiful experiment. Just like when you are creating your own perfume, you can blend in your favourite flavour notes, to find your perfect cup.

We are working on the perfect blends for you and are excited to share them with you soon <3
